NBN FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) upgrade! What are you talking about? I have had some residents in our area that have received a letter from NBN about upgrading to FTTP, what does this mean?
The upgrade is available in some locations that have NBN FTTN (Fibre To The Node) technology eg. most of the Woolgoolga area and for locations that have NBN FTTC (Fibre To The Curb) eg. most of Corindi Beach. This does not mean if you are in these areas the upgrade is available to you, no you will have to check the NBN link below or contact your service provider.
FTTP is the preferred NBN technology most of Coffs Harbour has FTTP and it offers a faster and more reliable service. Not all areas are available to get the upgrade at this stage and in time NBN will start to transition to FTTP. To see if you can upgrade follow the link below for more information.
NBN now has a search page to see if you can upgrade to FTTP and it can be found here https://www.nbnco.com.au/residential/upgrades/fttp-upgrade-with-higher-speed-tiers
Do you have to make the upgrade? Well no you can just continue as you are if you are happy with your connection. However if you do have a poor connection or slow speeds than it might be worth while looking in to the upgrade by first checking the above link to NBN and if it is available to you then contact you service provider for further info from them.
It is also worth noting that if you do request an upgrade from NBN through you service provider there is an expectation that you will need to increase you monthly plan to a speed level of NBN’s “Home Fast” and in some cases this may be an increase to monthly plan costs.
